Malta offers opportunities for Blue Growth alongside increased protected of offshore areas of conservation importance.

Second-year geography students will get the opportunity to explore the coasts and coastal waters around Malta, a fascinating archipelago with stunning natural coastlines and rich maritime history.

Staying in the north of the main island, you will investigate a range of contrasting coastal environments, including: ]

  • secluded and important conservation sites where seagrasses provide vital habitat
  • prime tourist sites
  • major port complexes, which take advantage of Malta’s strategic importance in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea.

In the past, our geography students also gained an insight into the challenges of managing this highly diverse group of islands.

This field course allows you to learn a wide variety of field collection techniques and to develop the individual and teamwork problem-solving skills involved in the observation, measurement, recording and interpretation of field data.
