Pathway to a degree in Earth and Environmental Science

Our part-time Pathway to a degree in Earth and Environmental Science course has been designed for adults who want to return to education in order to apply to study for a degree.
Modules are taught in the evenings and at weekends. You will study in a relaxed and supportive environment. After studying the Pathway, you will be able to make an application to study the following undergraduate degrees:
- Environmental Geography (K32K)
- Environmental Geoscience (F648)
- Environmental Sustainability Science (F651)
- Exploration Geology (F625)
- Geology (F603)
- Marine Geography (F845)
- Physical Geography (F843)
How it works
Applicants wishing to enrol on this pathway will need to have five GCSEs A-C/9-4. These must include Mathematics, English Language or Welsh (if you attended a Welsh-medium school), and Double Science or two sciences.
The pathway is made up of 60 credits.
Pathway modules
- Fundamentals of Chemistry (20 credits)
- Fundamentals of Physical Geography (20 credits)
- Introduction to Spatial Analysis and GIS (10 credits)
- A Gentle Introduction to Data Analysis using R (10 credits)
Duration
Under normal circumstances, you can expect to complete the Pathway within one year, but you can take longer if needed.
