This hands-on course provides a practical introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and fundamental spatial analysis techniques.
Learners develop essential skills in managing, analysing, and interpreting spatial data using GIS software.
Through real-world projects and guided tutorials, students gain proficiency in map creation, data visualisation, and spatial problem-solving, preparing them for further study or professional use of GIS.
Learning and teaching
Delivered over 10 weeks in 2-hour weekly practical computer workshops at the Lifelong Learning building in Cardiff.
Sessions combine theoretical input with practical exercises using GIS software, with opportunities for guided tutorials, group tasks, and individual map projects.
Coursework and assessment
To award academic credits, it is essential to demonstrate the knowledge and skills you've acquired or enhanced through tangible evidence.
