Postgraduate research enrolment
Enrolment process for new and continuing postgraduate research students.
School inductions for the 2023-24 academic year are currently being planned. We'll update this page as soon as we have more information on when and where your school induction will be taking place.
Firstly, all students – new and continuing – will need to enrol online (ie register and pay fees where these have not been paid directly by either the School or an external funding body).
You'll receive a letter and an e-mail from Academic Registry approximately three weeks prior to the start of your programme advising you that the online task is open. If you have any questions about online enrolment, please contact the Enrolment team on +44 (0)29 2087 6211 or submit a question via Ask Cardiff.
If you're a new student, you'll also have to attend an induction event at the School once you complete online enrolment.
School enrolment
This compulsory session will take place at the end of September (date and location to be confirmed). We'll send you a letter in July or August outlining everything you need to know about it.
Induction timetable
You'll receive your induction timetable at the School of Psychology enrolment session. We strongly recommended that you all the induction sessions (where appropriate). Some of these sessions will be compulsory.
The induction timetable will include:
- an introductory talk given by the Director of Postgraduate Research
- teacher training workshops for those who would like to take part in undergraduate teaching
- a safety training course
- an introductory session about the University Ethics Committee
- a computing session
- an introduction to the library facilities
- a participant panel demonstration.
School enrolment
Continuing students do not need to attend a School enrolment session. Clair Southard will be available at the end of September (date and location to be confirmed) for any student who has enrolment concerns.
We'll place an enrolment pack in your pigeon hole in mid-September with a copy of the induction timetable.
Induction timetable
Students who began their studies from January 2019 onward are invited to attend any of the induction programme events for new students – you can request a copy of the induction timetable from Clair Southard.
Please note, if you'll be teaching for the first time, you must attend the teacher training session.
