Engineering

Enrolment and induction information for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Engineering.

Enrolment for all Engineering students for 2019/20 will be in two stages:

  1. Central enrolment with the University which is only available online
  2. School induction which you are usually required to attend in person (with some exceptions).

You will be invited to complete central enrolment on SIMS Online in August and September. The University’s Registry team will be in touch with instructions.

Please ensure that this is completed in advance of the beginning of the academic session. This is extremely important because it ensures that your access to teaching and learning facilities (e.g. Learning Central and your timetable) will be in place before the start of any teaching or induction activities.

Delays in completing central online enrolment may jeopardise this and could have a knock-on effect on your examination registrations.

School induction for new students

In the initial School session, you will receive induction information about the activities for the rest of the week. You should ensure that you are available for all the activities for the remainder of the week after your initial induction session. These will include a compulsory health and safety briefing.

You will also have the opportunity to speak to relevant academic staff and ask questions about your programme.

Venues

All School sessions for new undergraduate and MSc students will take place in rooms S0.26/0.29, South Building, Queen’s Buildings.

Research students (PhDs) should attend the Research Office in S2.04 on the day of your arrival in Cardiff.
