Settling in and support in residences

Our Residence Life Team are dedicated to helping you settle into your new community in residences. We aim to enhance your student experience by fostering a sense of belonging, providing fun social activities and opportunities to develop and grow.
We work in partnership with Student Life, Residences, and the Students’ Union to bring a vibrant calendar of social events, a warm and accessible foundation of support, and opportunities to learn about yourself, others and how to live communally as a student at Cardiff.
Our varied programme of events includes:
- global holiday and cultural celebrations such as Halloween, Lunar New Year, Holi, Ramadan and many more
- in-person drop-in sessions across all the halls of residence for peer support, advice or just a listening ear
- development of important life skills like cooking, budgeting, resolving conflict with flatmates and managing your own mental and physical wellbeing
- events themed around specific interests such as crafts, healthy living, social change and wellbeing that allow you to socialize with others while doing something you love or just want to try out
- opportunities to shape your experience of living in halls through participation in feedback activities with our Halls Association and Student Voice groups.
Our Residence Life Assistants (RLAs), who are current Cardiff University students in their second year or later, are available to listen, offer practical advice and let you know about the wealth of services available to you at the university to help you make the most of your student life.
We run multiple events weekly, so follow us @residencelifecu on Instagram for regular updates or check out our events page on Browzer. You can find the RLAs in the social space in each residence at the following times:
