Join events in your residence, meet new people, and get support as you transition to university life.
Starting university might be your first time living away from home and in a brand-new city. We know that can feel exciting and a little bit daunting. That’s why our Residence Life team is here to help you settle in, feel supported, and make the most of your time in halls.
We work closely with Student Life Services, Residences, and the Students’ Union to bring you:
- a vibrant calendar of social events
- a warm and accessible support network
- opportunities to learn about yourself, connect with others, and build a positive communal living experience at Cardiff.
Events
Our events are all about helping you connect, learn, and have fun. Our programme includes:
- global holiday and cultural celebrations such as Halloween, Lunar New Year, Holi and Ramadan
- in-person drop-in sessions in every hall - offering peer support, friendly advice, or simply a listening ear when you need it
- key life skills to support your independence - including cooking, budgeting, conflict resolution, and self-care
- events based on your interests - from crafts and games to exploring Cardiff - where you can meet others while doing something you enjoy or want to try
- opportunities to shape life in your residence by sharing your ideas and feedback through Halls Association activities.

Our team of Residence Life Assistants (RLAs) are current students who’ve lived in halls themselves. They’re here to offer friendly advice, share their experiences, and signpost you to university services that can help.
