Learn how to access and use your digital residences ID in the Student App.

Your digital residences ID confirms that you live in Cardiff University accommodation. It will be available in the Student App alongside your digital student ID once you've completed enrolment and moved into your room. Your digital residences ID does not provide access to accommodation buildings or rooms, so you'll still need your key or key fob to gain entry.

Accessing your digital residences ID

To access your digital residences ID:

1. Download the Student App.
2. Sign in using your Cardiff University account.
3. Select the ID or Profile icon on the homepage.
4. Your student and residences ID will be displayed in the app.

Using your digital residences ID

When you’re on University premises, you must carry your University ID with you at all times. In line with University policy and guidance, you may be asked to show both your student ID and residence ID to confirm your identity.

You'll also need to show both forms of ID to:

• collect parcels and registered mail from your residence's reception
• confirm your identity if you are locked out of your room
• obtain a replacement key or key fob
• use the bus service between University Hall and Cathays campus or Heath Park campus.
