What’s provided and what to bring

Feel at home in your accommodation from day one. Here’s a guide to what’s provided and what you might want to bring to make your space your own.
All university accommodation comes with wifi and connection points for high-speed internet access, so you’ll be able to stay connected from the moment you arrive.
International students: To save space in your luggage, we recommend buying larger or everyday items once you’re here in Cardiff.
What’s provided for you
We’ve got the basics covered. Your room and shared kitchen will include:
- bed with a mattress
- desk and chair
- wardrobe
- noticeboard
- waste paper bin
- fridge/freezer
- microwave
- cooker
- toaster
- kettle
- iron and ironing board
- dustpan and brush
- kitchen bin
- mop and bucket
- vacuum cleaner
- blinds or curtains
- bicycle sheds*
*Students in Aberconway Hall and Colum Road/Colum Place houses can use the bicycle sheds at Colum Hall. Bicycle sheds are not available for students in the village student houses or flats.
Bed sizes
All rooms have single beds, except for the following, which have small double (4ft) beds:
Couples and family accommodation includes a standard double bed (4ft 6in).
Ensuite extra or ensuite plus accommodation
If you’ve been allocated an ensuite extra or ensuite plus room, you won’t need to bring or buy bedding, linen, towels, crockery, cutlery, or cooking equipment. These are already provided in:
- ensuite plus at Senghennydd Court and Talybont South
- ensuite extra at Talybont North
What to bring with you
You’ll just need to bring a few personal items to make your space feel like home:
- bedding and linen (sheets, pillowcases, duvet, blankets, pillows, and towels) - unless you ordered a bedding pack when confirming your arrival online
- crockery – bring what you’ll use day to day (for example, a couple of plates, bowls and mugs)
- cutlery
- cooking utensils and saucepans
- ethernet cable (for a faster or more reliable internet connection, especially during setup or if wifi is busy)
- if you’re bringing a bike, don’t forget to bring a good bike lock - you can buy a D-lock for £28 from the reception desks at:
