The Institute of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences is one Centre within the School of Medicine where students can conduct their research. Full details of all the research areas available can be found through the Medicine (PhD/MPhil/MD) programme.

The Institute of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences includes the clinical disciplines of Psychiatry, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Optometry. Our research also spans these clinical areas and is broad in scope ranging from biochemistry, molecular genetics and cell biology, through patient investigations including studies of cognition and advanced brain imaging as well as clinical trials, and into epidemiology and other population studies.

Much of our research is contained within the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomicsand we also host the NISCHR Biomedical Research Centre, the National Centre for Mental Health.IPMCN also participates in the Cardiff University’s Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institutewhich brings our researchers together with neuroscientists in the Schools of Biosciences, Psychology and Optometry and Vision Sciences.

Programme Aims
