Careers and Employability
We provide careers and employability support throughout your studies and after graduation.
Whether you have no idea what you want to do yet or you know where your future lies, our Careers and Employability service can help you throughout your career journey.
Get advice from a professional team of specialist Career Advisers each linked to Academic Schools and available weekdays for consultation.
Take part in a wide range of online sessions covering career choice, job search, applications, interviews procedures and assessment centres via our online platform Your Career Journey.
We offer tailored online and one-to-one careers advice and support to:
- postgraduate and postgraduate research students
- international students, including advice on gaining employment in the UK and at home.
Additionally we aim to remove barriers some students might face in order to level the playing field after graduation through the GO Wales and Career Confident programmes. We also provide advice to students with disabilities and/or dyslexia including reasonable adjustments and when to disclose.
We have a team of Work Experience Officers who actively source and promote work experience insights and internships. Many of our degree programmes also have an element of work experience built in.
Skills events are delivered in and out of the curriculum with a focus on developing skills while in university and articulating those skills successfully in future applications.
If you have an idea for a business or social enterprise, the Enterprise and Start-up team can bring your ideas to life with expert advice and guidance. Since 2014, the team has supported 215 new businesses founded by students and recent graduates.
You also have the opportunity to become mentors to other students - a very popular scheme which encourages skills development in both mentees and mentors.
This employability award enables you to gain recognition for work experience, mentoring, societies, volunteering and part-time work and develop key employability skills. The Award is open to all students and can be completed flexibly alongside your studies via our online platform Your Career Journey.
