MSc projects
Our MSc Software Engineering students two opportunities to work with organisations on projects.
The first introduces them to web services and database access. The second is their development of a full-life cycle product development as part of their dissertation.
Semester 1
Autumn - Creation of web pages, web services and database access
This project will be similar to the Year 2 Semester 1 project. It will address many of the same concerns; creation of web pages, web services and database access, but will also enable consideration of architecture, messaging, integration, security and the creation of web services. This project needs to (functionally) cover the Web Applications module. It should also be a suitable project for Agile Project Development and will include additional functionality that could be added during the second semester DevOps Module.
Projects are typically 4-weeks running mid-November to mid-December.
Dissertation
Summer - Development, delivery, and deployment of a significant team project
This is typically 10 weeks in length running from mid-end June and is designed to be the capstone of the programme.
Typically, projects will build upon the skills learnt so far in the programme, coupled with the opportunity to take control of a full product development lifecycle. Students will be responsible for managing all aspects of the project, from requirements gathering to delivery of a minimum viable product to the clients. There is flexibility in terms of the topics which might be considered.
