National Software Academy

A centre of excellence for software engineering education in Wales and part of the School of Computer Sciences and Informatics.

We work in partnership with the Welsh Government and industry leaders to address the national shortage of skilled programming and software engineering graduates.

Our teaching is centered around the delivery of real-world projects to provide you with the skills, knowledge and hands-on experience required to become a software engineer.

Help us to ensure the graduates we produce meet industry needs. We’re looking for partners across all sectors to excite, inspire and challenge our students.

Allyson introduces her final year project, an app for cancer patients, and explains why she would recommend studying at the NSA. Gareth James from Red Hat, a leading provider of enterprise open source solutions, talks about graduate employment opportunities.

Applied Software Engineering student, Emma, explains her Videobrix project and why she fell in love with the NSA. Steve Meredith from Cardiff Council discusses the skills that our graduates possess and the benefits of these in the workplace.

Right quote

I was really excited by the fact that this degree is applied; less lectures more coding. We get to do projects that are industry related so we talk to clients and we meet with them. We get to learn more things by actually practising them. What differentiates this degree from others is when I graduate I will be more ready to work.
