Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of society through recognised excellence in clinical trials and other well-designed studies.
The Centre for Trials Research at Cardiff University is one of the largest registered clinical trials units in the UK. We are organized into four divisions, each with specialisms. We aim to improve the health and wellbeing of society through recognised excellence in clinical trials and other well designed studies.
We have an open door policy, and welcome approaches for well-designed research ideas outside these areas.
Our four divisions are supported by infrastructure funding from Health and Care Research Wales and Cancer Research UK, which means our extensive team of experienced quality assurance, information systems, data management, administration, operations and communications teams work across and support researchers in all divisions. This ensures effective and consistent support for Chief Investigators and studies all the way through to successful publication.
Division research expertise
- Drug trials from early to late phase
- Trials and complex interventions
- Understanding the mechanisms of potential disease and the way treatments work
- Cohort studies
- Conducting randomised controlled trials in community and non-health settings
- Translating research into policy and practice
We provide opportunities for joint working and development – with new or seasoned Chief Investigators. We work to support appropriately resourced trials and studies across a range of funders (in the UK and internationally) with strategic support of smaller studies.
We will consider any well-designed research study or trial idea, even those currently outside scope. We work in close collaboration with patient groups to deliver high quality outputs relevant to clinical care.
