Yr Academi Gymraeg - Betty Campbell Scholarship
The Betty Campbell Scholarship offers to fund up to £1,000 to eligible students studying 20 credits or more through the medium of Welsh.
This scholarship is now open for applications and will close on Friday 7 February 2025.
The scholarship is open to all students studying 20 credits or more through the medium of Welsh. We particularly encourage students who may face obstacles or uncertainty in learning through the medium of Welsh at the University level.
We have named this award The Betty Campbell Scholarship to honour a remarkable individual who dedicated her life to fighting inequality and made inclusivity inherent to all her educational work.
We want to ensure that our efforts in Yr Academi Gymraeg are inspired by Betty's values and her passion for Wales, its history, and its culture as an integral part of Cardiff's global story.

Our expectations
More than anything, we want students to make the most of their studies, and enjoy being part of the Welsh-speaking and broader student community at Cardiff University. We encourage all students to participate in extra-curricular student opportunities to enhance the learning experience and to be best prepared for whatever they decide to do after their studies are complete.
Students who receive this scholarship will be given support to explore opportunities to contribute to the work of Academi Gymraeg or engage with other Welsh language Student Ambassador roles.
Students must complete Welsh language modules to be eligible for scholarship funds in the following academic year.
