Spanish DELE

The Diplomas in Spanish as a Foreign Language DELE are official qualifications, which certify the level of competence and proficiency in using the Spanish language.

We are a centre for these exams, which are awarded by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. We run language courses that can help you prepare for these examinations.

Exam fees and timetable

All levels are now full and we are unable to accept any further applications.

Exam fees apply to both internal and external candidates. Examinations take place in May each year, with registration during March. In 2026, the examinations take place on Saturday 23 May.

Practice papers are available from the Instituto Cervantes.

Registration

To register for the exam, please complete and return the DELE Registration form in the Spanish version or the English version. Please also provide a copy of a valid photo ID (passport, driving licence, etc.) with your registration form and send it by email to languages@cardiff.ac.uk. You will be sent a secure online payment link following receipt of your registration documents.

Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation of enrolment. Closer to the examination date, you will receive a statement of entry confirming the exam date and time.
