Our research is organised around four research groups.

The Environment Research Group is a large cluster of human geographers and planners interested in understanding and addressing the multiple dimensions of the environmental crisis.

Social and Cultural Geography

Members of this group undertake research in case study locations around the world that engages with feminist, postcolonial, post-structuralist and ‘more-than-representational’ theory.

Spatial Planning and Analysis in City Environments

This research group specialises in both theoretical and applied research on a wide range of topics related to cities and urban environments.

Economic and Political Geographies

The Urban and Regional Governance Research Group specialises in the study of social, political and economic change in towns, cities, regions, and city-regions; its impact on different social groups and different places; and its relationship to policy and planning.
