Study Creative Writing on one of the UK’s longest-established programs at a university with international reputation for high quality teaching and research. In recent years our graduates have won distinguished literary prizes.

On the Cardiff MA, you will be a valued member of a creative and supportive community of committed peers who wish to pursue careers as writers. In weekly workshops, the MA offers instruction in the craft of writing, sharpening your awareness of the creative process and equipping you with the skills needed to teach creative writing.

As part of the MA, students attend a writing retreat at Gregynog Hall, the beautiful estate in mid-Wales with a distinguished artistic heritage.

We offer PhD supervision in a number of genres. The PhD programme involves the preparation of an original piece of creative work – a novel, collection of poems or short stories, a play, film script, or work of creative non-fiction, together with a reflective commentary.
