International Postgraduate Taught Students
Our Masters courses are ideal for retraining or as a route towards a future PhD.
Our postgraduate taught Masters degrees are very popular with international students. All taught programmes are research-led, including a significant research project under the guidance of an academic supervisor. Many students use these schemes as an opportunity to re-train in a different field of study to their original degree, or to specialize from a general chemistry degree. They also provide excellent preparation for PhD programmes in related disciplines. We offer three postgraduate taught Masters degrees:
Catalysis has an important role in many processes, from living systems to large scale chemical manufacture. It is also central to addressing many of the grand challenges facing society, such as solving the energy crisis and protecting our environment. This course will provide training on heterogeneous, homogeneous and enzymatic catalysis theory, application, preparation and analysis.

Biological Chemistry (MSc)
The chemistry of biological processes is the basis of all life on the planet. By studying aspects such as biosynthesis, retrosynthetic analysis, molecular biology and the principles of drug development, this course will develop an understanding of the pathways that are core to chemical biology.

Medicinal Chemistry (Msc)
Medicinal chemistry is the chemistry that is used in the discovery of new medicines. Although the techniques of medicinal chemistry are widely employed in the drug discovery industry, many of the same principals can be applied to other problems in the chemical and life sciences. By understanding the mechanisms of drugs action, new molecules can be developed with improved pharmacological properties and reduced side effects.
The School and University offer scholarships to help with the cost of study. Please visit the University Funding page for details of Scholarships, and the University International Scholarship page, for more information. You should also check to see if your own government can provide support for your studies in Cardiff.
We welcome applications to our taught postgraduate courses from students with a suitable undergraduate degree in Chemistry and related disciplines.
