Pre-sessional summer courses

These full-time, intensive English language courses are for international students with IELTS (Academic) scores of either 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 or 6.5 and who hold an offer to study on an undergraduate or postgraduate course with us.

If you successfully complete your relevant pre-sessional course, there is no need to retake an IELTS test.

In 2023 we will be offering both Online and On-campus courses.

8-week courses

This summer 2023 course is for students with IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall (with a sub-score of 5.5 in Writing and all other sub-scores at 5.0 or higher) and who have a course entry requirement of IELTS 6.5.

10-week courses

This summer 2023 course is for students with IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall (with a sub-score of 6.0 in Writing and all other sub-scores of 5.5 or higher) and who have a course entry requirement of IELTS 7.0.

12-week courses

This summer 2023 course is for students with IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall (with sub-scores of 5.0 in Writing and Speaking and all other sub-scores at 4.5 or higher) and who have a course entry requirement of IELTS 6.5.

20-week courses

This summer 2023 course is for students with IELTS (Academic) 5.0 overall (with a sub-score of 5.0 in Writing, 4.5 in Speaking and all other sub-scores at 4.0 or higher) and who have a course entry requirement of IELTS 6.5.

Aspire Refugee Scholarship

This Aspire scholarship is for Refugees seeking a Pre-sessional English language course prior to undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Cardiff University.
