Dr Ashley Sendell-Price
Ashley is an evolutionary biologist with over a decade of experience working with large-scale genome sequencing datasets.
He earned his doctorate at the University of Oxford, where he investigated the population genetics of the silvereye, an island-colonising bird species.
As a postdoctoral researcher at Oxford and Uppsala universities, he addressed evolutionary questions across diverse non-model organisms, including white-eyes, Darwin’s finches, Atlantic herring, epaulette sharks, and corals.
Since 2023, Ashley has worked as a bioinformatician, first at the University of Warwick, where he supported projects across the School of Life Sciences, and now within the NHS.
He currently serves as a quality lead within the bioinformatics team at Public Health Wales, where he is committed to making a difference by ensuring genomic analyses are robust, reliable, and ISO 15189 compliant, thereby strengthening public health across Wales.
