Amy Gaskin

Amy Gaskin is a Bioinformatician at the Pathogen Genomics Unit (PenGU) at Public Health Wales.

Amy has worked at PenGU for six years since the completion of her MSc in Bioinformatics and Genetic Epidemiology at Cardiff University. Her work spans a wide range of pathogens processed at PenGU, with a particular specialism in HIV. Amy co‑leads the unit’s quality initiatives and ISO accreditation processes.

Earlier in her career, she contributed to the national COVID‑19 genomics response as part of the COVID-19 Genomics UK consortium. Amy has also collaborated with the international PHA4GE group to develop standards for HIV bioinformatics software.
