Estranged Student Bursary
Our Estranged Student Bursary can offer help to young students who are studying without the support of a family network.
To be eligible students must meet all of the following criteria:
- a full-time undergraduate
- under 25 when you started your course
- eligible for funding as a 'home' student
- be irreconcilably estranged from both of your biological or adoptive parents or only living parent and have been assessed by Student Finance as an independent student due to estrangement.
These applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Up to £3,000 for a typical three-year course. The payment may be paid in addition to the Cardiff University Bursary.
How to apply
If you have specified on your UCAS application that you are an estranged student, we will invite you to apply for this bursary if you meet the terms and conditions. Alternatively, you may download and complete an application form from the student intranet after enrolment.
