The High Performance Programme (HPP) exists to help students excel in both their academic and sporting careers whilst studying here.
The programme provides elite student-athletes with a host of support services and aims to:
- enable elite athletes to continue to train and compete at the highest level while studying
- increase the performance level of athletes
- provide an athlete-centred service
- provide the best support and training environment
- continually improve the University’s BUCS ranking.
To be eligible for the High Performance Programme you must be competing at a junior international standard or above in your sport.
Priority is given to Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth sports and/or sports within the BUCS competition framework. Other sports are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Successful applicants are expected to represent a Cardiff University 1st / A Squad.
Competition for places on the programme can be very high therefore it is essential all applicants can show evidence of their sporting achievements.
Applicants of all nationalities and degree levels are eligible to be considered for the High Performance Programme. Please be reassured that, where applicable, we will take in to account the impact of COVID-19 upon competitive opportunities and selections.
If you meet the above eligibility criteria for the High Performance Programme and would like to apply for the 2023-2024 academic year, please complete the 2023-2024 High Performance Programme Application Form by Friday 29 September 2023.
