Home undergraduate fees

Tuition fees are payable to Cardiff University for each year of your course.

This includes years you may have to repeat, even if you're not progressing to a new level (called internal repeat years).

  • Tuition fees cover all reasonable costs required for you to complete the degree programme stated. Please note that you may choose to participate in study trips, associated placements or purchase equipment while studying on your degree programme, which will be at your own cost. Tuition fees do not include DBS checks, living costs such as accommodation, subsistence or travel.
  • They also do not include the cost of registration and examinations for students not currently registered.

Funding may be available towards the cost of your tuition fees. Visit our funding pages for more information.

If you are unsure of your fee status ('home' or 'overseas'), take a look at our fee status page.

2026 entry

Student type 2026/27 fee
Full-time 'home' undergraduate, including Healthcare programmes/NHS-funded programmes £9,790*

'Home’ students on a placement as part of their degree, including:

  • Students on International Exchange (study year or semester abroad)
  • Students studying or working abroad (paid or unpaid) under the Turing scheme or the Taith programme
  • Unpaid research at an overseas Higher Education Institution
  • Work placements (paid or unpaid) overseas
15-20% of the full-time fee, dependent on the type of placement

*In the event that the Welsh government increases the tuition fee cap between acceptance of your offer and the start of the academic year, the University will write to you to inform you of any changes to the tuition fees payable for your programme and, where relevant, give you the opportunity to withdraw without penalty should you no longer wish to take up your place.

Fees after year one

If you have been classified as a home student and qualify for the government-regulated undergraduate tuition fee, you will be charged a single tuition fee for each academic year. The University’s policy is to charge the maximum regulated fee to reflect increased costs of delivery and maintain a high-quality student experience. Tuition fees may therefore increase in line with any uplift determined by the Welsh government by law or policy in the second and subsequent years of your course. Where applicable, we will notify you of any change in tuition fee by the end of June in the academic year before the one in which the fee will increase.

Should you choose to change your programme of study or commence a new programme of study, you will be charged the same fee as new students entering that programme.
