Bachelor's degrees

A bachelor's degree will give you a thorough understanding of the course you are studying, as well as provide you with key skills to take into your professional career.

An undergraduate degree is a higher education qualification at Level 6* in the UK. Most courses take three years to complete, although some can last four years if they include a work placement or a year studying abroad.

The final qualification you receive will depend on your subject, for example, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BSc).  We offer several different types of bachelor's degrees outlined below.

BA

A Bachelor of Arts is awarded to students who complete their studies in the liberal arts or humanities. They are awarded by the Schools of:

BSc

A Bachelor of Science is awarded to students who complete their studies in the sciences. They are awarded by the Schools of:

BDS

A Bachelor of Dentistry is awarded to students who complete their studies in dentistry. They are awarded by the Schools of Dentistry and Healthcare Sciences.

BEng

A Bachelor of Engineering is awarded to students who complete their studies in engineering. They are awarded by the School of Engineering.

BScEcon

A Bachelor of Economics and Social Studies is awarded to students who complete their studies in the social sciences and economics. They are awarded by the Schools of Business, Law and Politics, History, Archaeology and Religion and Social Sciences.

BMid

A Bachelor of Midwifery is awarded to students who complete their studies in midwifery. They are awarded by the School of Healthcare Sciences.

BN

A Bachelor of Nursing is awarded to students who complete their studies in nursing. They are awarded by the School of Healthcare Sciences.

MBBCh

A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery is awarded to students who complete their studies in medicine. They usual take five to six years to complete and are awarded by the School of Medicine.

LLB

A Bachelor of Law is awarded to students who complete their studies in law. They are awarded by the Schools of Law, Modern Languages, Social Sciences, and Welsh.
