Student intranet

This information is for the 2020/21 academic year. We will be updating these pages in July 2021, so we advise you to check them regularly for the latest information.

The student intranet is your go-to place for essential information to support your study.

On the student intranet you'll be able to discover the latest news and events on campus, access all the services and benefits available to you, and find out more about University buildings, facilities and teams.

IT services

Get started with IT services and the intranet by logging into the student intranet

A range of IT services, software and applications are available to you during your study, including free access to anti-virus software and a free subscription to Microsoft Office.

We will email you a weekly student news summary to your University email address. Look out for it to keep updated with the latest changes and important news.

You can access all of our main digital applications through the student intranet, including SIMS online, Microsoft Office365, Learning Central, LibrarySearch, Find a PC and MATLAB.

You will also have access to the Welsh language grammar and spell checker Cysgliad.

All courses have a unique area on our virtual learning environment, Learning Central. You access it via the web and depending on your course you’ll find things to read, watch and do online. You’ll also submit the majority of your assignments online and get marks and feedback here too.

The Learn Plus service enables the recording of lectures and other learning activities. The recordings are then shared online through Learning Central, and can be viewed online or through a mobile app. Reviewing the recordings can be especially useful around exam and assessment time.

Help and feedback

We always welcome feedback and are here to help if you're having trouble with the intranet. Advice and support is available 24/7 from the IT Service Desk.
