Global Talent Senior Research Fellows and Professors

Cardiff University is seeking a talented mix of high-profile, innovative current and future leaders of research to join our values-driven, pioneering, and vibrant university.

We are seeking international applicants currently living and working outside the UK, as part of our allocation of the UKRI Global Talent Fund initiative.

As part of our ambitious new strategy, Our Future Together, we are strengthening our global presence through pioneering research, international collaboration, and regional impact. Our vision is to be globally recognised for translational excellence and innovation that delivers real-world benefits for future generations.

Cardiff is the only university in Wales to be awarded money from the Global Talent Fund to recruit international researchers, alongside 12 other UK universities. The funding covers research, relocation, and visa costs for international researchers and their families.

Successful candidates will accelerate our research leadership in key strategic areas aligned to two UK industrial strategy areas:

Creative industries

We are enabling innovation by empowering creative industries for transformative social, cultural and economic impact across sectors.

Robotic arms in action in a manufacturing environment

Advanced manufacturing and compound semiconductors

We are conducting cutting-edge research into new materials and developing transformative applications in high-frequency electronic engineering and quantum devices.

  • currently live and work outside of the UK
  • not have lived and worked in the UK for at least 24 months
