Global Talent Fund
We are proud to be one of the 12 UK research organisations selected to receive UK government funding of £4.35 million.
The Global Talent Fund has been launched to attract and support the relocation of outstanding international researchers and research teams to the UK.
This funding, from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), aims to boost innovation and economic growth by recruiting talented international researchers whose work will support the eight high-priority sectors of the UK’s Industrial Strategy.
Funding will cover research, relocation, and visa costs for international researchers and their families. Grants will start in the 2025/26 financial year and run for five years.
Our priority areas
We are only recruiting to the creative industries, including digital technologies, and advanced manufacturing and compound semiconductors priority areas at this time. Recruitment for all other areas has been concluded.
There are eight priority areas in the UK industrial strategy. Our recruitment focused on areas aligned to our institutional strategy and strengths:
- creative industries, including digital technologies
- clean energy systems, industries, and catalysis
- advanced manufacturing and compound semiconductors
- life sciences
Our existing research in these areas offers a strong pathway to supporting innovation, delivering economic growth, and addressing key societal and environmental challenges in Wales and the world.
