Elliot Bennett is a UK based Drummer, Clinician and educator.
He has performed in plethora of musical situations and genres, working with the likes of UK number 1 selling artist Sian Evans (formally known as Kosheen), Jim Mullen, Bobby Shew, Keith Tippett, to name but a few. Similarly, his rhythmical touch can be heard on BBC wildlife documentaries from Michael Portillo’s ‘Portillo goes wild in Spain’, through to the Natural Worlds ‘Ella, a Meerkat’s tale’.
Slowly Rolling Camera is a project that Elliot has been involved in for the last 5 years. Since 2013 SRC have carved a path for themselves as one of the rising stars of the European Jazz scene. Praised for their intense and powerful live shows as well as receiving critical acclaim from the international press, their heavy grooves, unleashed hooks and extremely emotional contrasts has become a hallmark of their epic sound. They have performed internationally, supporting heavy weights such as the Robert Glasper Experiment, Maceo Parker and Chick Corea. Signed to Edition records, their highly anticipated 4th album is due out next year.
When not on the road playing internationally, Elliot has a thriving Remote Session business playing and recording drums at his studio. He also offers bespoke lessons from the beginner through to the advanced, including other teachers/session drummers wishing to refine their technique and improve their vocabulary.
Elliot has been a lecturer for over 15 years teaching at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to both the Bachelor and Master Degree students. Similarly, he is head of drums at the University of South Wales teaching on both the BA and BMus undergraduate degree courses and drum tutor here at Cardiff University. Elliot is a fellow in Higher Education (FHEA).
In the quest to promote the language of music, Elliot has been asked to present his ideas at various drum clinics, opening up for some of the worlds best drummers. Some of which include: Steve Smith (Journey), Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer), Ian Thomas (Seal, Eric Clapton), Chad Smith (RHCP), Terry Bozzio and Jo Jo Mayer.
