Developing and implementing a systems integration methodology for the achievement of flexible, responsive, and resilient manufacturing in a bespoke production environment and remote site installation.

CAMSAC investigators Dr Daniel Eyers and Dr Anthony Soroka were awarded a grant of £140K following a successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) application.

The grant, awarded by Welsh Government and Innovate UK, will support a two-year project (2019-2021) with Shine Food Machinery Ltd., a leading supplier of high-quality commercial kitchen solutions.

Project overview

Shine Food Machinery Ltd. is a commercial kitchen manufacturer that designs, makes, and installs kitchen equipment and serving counters.

Over the past 40 years, they have supplied a diverse set of clients including

  • Microsoft
  • the Ministry of Defence
  • Coca-Cola
  • Selfridges
  • Bristol Airport.

Every product is tailor-made for the individual customer, and needs to be fulfilled quickly without compromising quality of either the supplied product or installation service. This type of work necessitates effective business and manufacturing systems that can handle extremely complex and changing requirements, without incurring significant management overheads.

Project aims

The aim of this project is to analyse, design, and implement a range of flexible processes and systems to enhance the effectiveness of the operations, supporting continued business growth.
