Terms and conditions

Thank you for your interest in joining #TeamCardiff to trek Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at Night.

Each participant represents an essential source of fundraising towards Cardiff University’s neuroscience, mental health, and cancer research.

Please make sure you have read the below terms and conditions, as well as the essential information provided by the challenge provider Charity Challenge.

  1. By registering to trek Snowdon at Night, you will pay a non-refundable registration fee of £40.
  2. Until you have registered with the trip provider, Charity Challenge, your place is not secured.
  3. If you register and commit to raising the minimum sponsorship, you must raise a minimum of £345 excluding Gift Aid, for Cardiff University neuroscience and mental health or cancer research. You will need to raise at least 80% (£276 excluding Gift Aid) of the fundraising target 7 weeks before your trip departure date. If you do not meet this target, you will not be able to take part in the challenge. You must raise the final 20% (£69 excluding Gift Aid) within 4 weeks of completing the challenge.
  4. You will need to pay your fundraising money to Cardiff University as you raise it. We recommend using JustGiving so your sponsorship money is automatically paid weekly.
  5. If you register as a self-funder, you must pay both the non-refundable registration fee of £40 and the balance of £169 at least 5 weeks before your challenge. If you do not pay the balance, you will not be able to take part in the challenge. 100% of your fundraising above this amount will go towards your chosen Cardiff University research cause.
  6. The Snowdon at Night hike is administered by Charity Challenge – a charity challenge agency, with 20 years experience of in delivering challenges for national charities. Your registration and contract to fund and participate in this event is with them.
  7. Participants must be over 18.
  8. This is an open challenge event, which means the hike will include fundraisers from other charities. It is not exclusive to Cardiff University #TeamCardiff fundraisers.
  9. This challenge is graded as ‘tough’ and requires a good level of fitness. This is the perfect challenge for participants who are prepared to put in the necessary training to push themselves on a more challenging trek. You will be trekking for approximately 8 hours continuously, over 21km of uneven terrain, so don’t underestimate the importance of training beforehand.
  10. The challenge starts and ends in Llanberis in Snowdonia National Park. You will be expected to make your way to and from the location. There is more information about this here.
  11. No accommodation is provided for this challenge. It is a tough challenge which will see you staying awake throughout the night, so please factor in some rest before you travel home.
  12. Breakfast after your challenge is the only meal provided. Please make sure you advise Charity Challenge of any dietary requirements when booking. Please ensure you have a good meal before the challenge starts.
  13. You will be expected to provide your clothing and equipment, however, Charity Challenge offers a 12.5% discount with Cotswold Outdoor, Snow + Rock, and Runners Need.
  14. We understand things change. If you are unable to take part in this event or decide not to take part, please contact Charity Challenge at booking@charitychallenge.com to cancel your place. Your initial registration fee is non-refundable but depending on when you cancel, you may be eligible for a refund on your place cost (self-funded only). Please also contact us at donate@cardiff.ac.uk to let us know before as soon as possible. We may be able to transfer your place and fundraising to another challenge date. If you cancel your participation, we will not be able to refund any fundraising.
  15. Charity Challenge reserves the right to make any amendments necessary to the event itinerary. Precise timings during the challenge may vary depending on things such as weather, group ability etc.
