Trek Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at Night with #TeamCardiff

Snowdon at Night

Trek Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at night and fundraise for Cardiff University research in 2024.

An exciting new adventure is now open to #TeamCardiff: a nighttime hike under the starry skies of Eryri (Snowdonia), reaching the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

Choose to trek on either 20-21 July 2024 or 19-20 October 2024.

Supported by experienced Mountain Leaders, fundraisers will begin their journey in the heart of Eryri National Park, before climbing to Wales’ highest peak at 1085m. After lighting the way with glowsticks and fairy lights, the team will then descend at sunrise to a celebration breakfast.

As well as testing their physical and mental limits on this memorable challenge, #TeamCardiff fundraisers will raise money for vital research.

Join #TeamCardiff in 2024

As part of #TeamCardiff you can choose to raise funds for either Cardiff University’s neuroscience and mental health, or cancer research. By supporting the next generation of researchers, you can help accelerate life-changing discoveries to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for people living with conditions like cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, depression, and schizophrenia.

Take the first step

To register for your place, you will need to pay a non-refundable fee of £40.

You will then need to raise a minimum of £345 for your chosen Cardiff University research cause. You will need to raise at least 80% of the fundraising target (£276), seven weeks before your challenge date. If you do not meet this target, you will be unable to participate in the event.

Alternatively, you can opt to self-fund your challenge. You will need to pay a £40 registration fee and then a balance of £169 at least five weeks before your challenge. There is no minimum fundraising target, so raise as much as you can for Cardiff University research.

The challenge is open to everyone so why not gather a group of friends, family, colleagues, or teammates? Together or individually, you can fundraise in hope, celebration, or memory of a loved one.

Itinerary

Make your way to the town of Llanberis, at the heart of Eryri National Park, in good time for the trek.

After registration and a full safety briefing from your challenge leaders, you will strap on your head torches and begin the trek. During the trek, you will be supported every step of the way by our fully qualified Mountain Leaders.

You should reach the summit just as the sun begins to rise over the rest of Eryri National Park. After the elation of reaching the top, you must summon up the energy to return to the start, where it will be time to relax with a celebration breakfast.

After this you are free to depart and make your way home for a well-deserved rest.
