Public engagement in research

Our researchers work across disciplines to tackle major challenges facing society, the economy and the environment to deliver meaningful impact.

Communities have valuable knowledge and experience to contribute to research. Participation in public engagement benefits their own personal development and provides opportunities to address the issues that matter to them.
We believe that research belongs to everyone - our public engagement seeks to break down the barriers between research and society. We do this by involving and sharing our knowledge and research with the public, making the benefits of our work accessible to all.

Cardiff University value diverse forms of knowledge by collaborating with the public. Inviting communities to help shape and inform our work results in richer, impactful research, where the perspectives and experiences of all are shared and valued. This can take many forms, from patients’ involvement in research about their medical conditions, to local citizens collecting data for environmental research projects.
