Main Roles and Responsibilities

In my current role I take the lead on strategic issues in relation to mental health, learning disability and psychosocial care.  This influences the School's activity with regards to research, education, practice and programme development in these fields of practice.  In 2006 I was a member of the Department of Health expert committee in relation to the Department of Health's Mental Health Nursing Review.

Personal Statement

I am a registered mental health nurse with a practice background in acute inpatient and community mental health nursing, counselling and clinical supervision.  I hold a first degree in education and a masters degree in counselling and clinical supervision.  I commenced as a lecturer in mental health nursing in 1991.

Academic and Professional Interests

I have published research in relation to the All Wales Community Mental Health Nursing, stress, clinical supervision and burnout studies.  I am also an editor and contributor to a book entitled 'Mental Health Nursing Skills' due for publication early in 2009.

I am a member of the All Wales Senior Nurse Advisory Group for Mental Health.  I am also Chair-elect to the national group Mental Health Nurse Academics (UK).
