Research and Development Collaboration

The School is equipped with excellent research facilities, examples include a range of high resolution NMR spectrometers, high resolution mass spectrometry )both LC-MS and GC-MS), single crystal and powder X-ray diffractometers and a wide range of standard and specialised analytical techniques. Research in the School is supported by national and international funding bodies, such as EPSRC, BBSRC, EU, Leverhulme Trust, The Royal Society and NSF. Our research community has over 50 postdoctoral scientists and 100 postgraduate research students. We have active research links with more than 40 different companies and over 120 UK and overseas universities and research institutes.

We have a long established and successful track record of working with businesses on a broad range of research and development projects. Our partners have ranged from local and national SMEs to some of the world’s largest multinationals. Projects span short-term focused work to more longer-term exploratory studies, and can be resourced at a range of levels. Projects can be based around student and postdoctoral researchers, and we are experienced with TSB, EU and KTP collaborations. Projects are supported by Research, Innovation & Enterprise Services, allowing professional interaction and high standards of confidentiality.
