Active in research into the performance of buildings and their components since 1981, my current research interests are:
My funded research activities and outputs over this period have ranged from the production of Best Practice Guidance for the UK Govt, through experimental determination of the performance of services components, such as Solar Thermal Air Conditioning systems, and into work which influences the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
This latter work has spanned from 2005 to 2014, during which I have proposed and co-ordinated the two largest Intelligent Energy Europe projects funded by the European Commission at that time - HARMONAC and iSERVcmb.
I am a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Technical Committee.
Regularly invited to speak to EU-28 Member State Legislators about iSERV and HARMONAC during the EU-wide Concerted Action 2 and 3 projects. These presentations are designed to help the Member States transpose the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directives into National Legislation.
