Plan your day

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The following information relates to our traditional Open Days that are currently suspended due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Although we cannot welcome you physically on campus, you can join us for our Virtual Open Day on Friday 3 July 2020.

Arrival and registration

Open Day will run from 09:00-16:00 and you are welcome to come and go as you please throughout the day.

On arrival in Cardiff, please make your way to the University’s Main Building to register your attendance and collect an information pack.

Staff and students (wearing University t-shirts) will also be available as you arrive to provide further advice and guidance.

Please note you will need to bring your Eventbrite ticket with you on the day, either on a device or printed.

What's on

The programme will be available closer to the date of our next Open Day.

Getting around

All buildings on the Cathays Campus are within easy walking distance of each other. We also run a free shuttle bus service between the following locations throughout the day:

  • University Main Building (Museum Avenue) to Talybont Student Residences and Sports Training Village
  • University Main Building (Museum Avenue) to Heath Park Campus
  • University Main Building (Park Place) to Queen's Buildings/Trevithick
  • University Main Building (Museum Avenue) to School of Journalism, Media and Culture.

Please note that the Heath Park Bus will also call at Talybont on its way back to Main Building.

We aim to provide an accessible environment for all applicants, students and visitors. If you or any member of your party have special requirements, please contact us in advance to discuss your needs.

Disability support

Leaving your luggage

If you are travelling with luggage and would like somewhere to leave it for the day, please note that for security reasons, we will be unable to store items at the University. If you’re staying in Cardiff, we suggest that you ask your accommodation provider if they have any storage facilities. Alternatively, there is a list of secure left luggage facilities near to the city centre. Please note that the locations listed are external to the University and not endorsed by us.

Heath Park Campus Schools

The Schools of DentistryHealthcare Sciences and Medicine are mainly based at the Heath Park Campus. However, on Open Days, the Schools may hold some activities and talks in both our Heath Park and Cathays Park Campuses. This will be detailed in the relevant Open Day programme.

As the Heath Park Campus is home to the University Hospital of Wales, and is a very busy site with limited parking, we strongly recommend visitors to use our free Open Day shuttle bus service between both campuses.

Our shuttle bus service to the Heath Park Campus will be available from the Main Building in Cathays Park Campus (where visitors register on arrival) between 09:00-15:00. The last bus to leave Main Building will be at 15:00 and the last bus to return to the Main Building from the Heath Park Campus will be at 16:30.

Saturday Open Days

Please note, due to NHS regulations, the Dental Hospital, where the School of Dentistry is based, is not open on weekends.

Therefore, tours of the School of Dentistry will not be available on Saturday Open Days.

However, the School of Dentistry will still run a variety of talks and activities on our Cathays Park Campus.

Photography and filming

The event may be recorded in photographs, audio and video for educational and promotional purposes (including online). Copyright of all images rests with Cardiff University.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform a member of staff on the day.
