Great Western Railway

In partnership with Great Western Railway (GWR), visitors can get 20% off train fares when travelling to any 2026 Open Day at Cardiff University.

To claim the discount, simply book via the GWR website and enter the promo code: CARDIFFOPENDAY26

How it works:

• Go to GWR.com and search for your journey
• Select “Have a promo code” on the search page
• Enter CARDIFFOPENDAY26 to apply your discount

This offer is valid for all Cardiff University Open Days taking place in 2026.

Terms and conditions

1. Bookings can only be made on GWR.com.
2. The Open Days GWR travel offer is only available for travel on GWR services. If travelling from or within a region of the country that is not part of the GWR network you may need to purchase separate tickets to the chosen destination.
3. The destination must be relevant to Cardiff University i.e. Cardiff Central, Cathays or Cardiff Queen Street.
4. Origin of journey must be within the GWR network, but please note that Advance Purchase tickets are not available for short distance journeys.
5. The scheme is only available for use with Advance Purchase tickets. These set times and dates of travel and are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.
6. The Open Days GWR travel offer is available for the dates provided by Cardiff University and the week that the event takes place, running Saturday to the next Sunday.
7. Discount can be used with Railway Card 16-25. Tick the box on the page next to it and select from the drop down menu.

Transport for Wales

Transport for Wales is offering a 10% discount on rail tickets to our Open Day on 26 and 27 June 2026.

How to get the discount

Tickets will be available to buy immediately for travel from 25 June - 28 June (inclusive) for those wishing to travel to Cardiff the day before or those returning the day after the event.

If you have any questions or issues regarding this offer, contact Transport for Wales, rather than Cardiff University.

Cardiff Central must be selected as the destination when booking to attend our Open Day. Our main campus, Cathays Park, is just a short bus or train ride from Cardiff Central Station.

Tickets may ONLY be purchased through the Transport for Wales Business Travel team via the telephone, where payment will be made using a credit or debit card.

The TFW Business Travel team is available 09:30-17:00 Monday to Friday, call TFW on 02920 720515.
