We place equal emphasis on financial, environmental and societal sustainability and this is reflected in our research.
We build on core expertise in the areas of supply chain forecasting, inventory control, transportation science, supply chain modelling, logistics business modelling and freight economics to advance knowledge in areas including:
- the circular economy and closed loop supply chains: forecasting and inventory/production optimisation
- the effects of additive manufacturing (3D printing) solutions on supply chain decision making
- distributed manufacturing and its implications for business modelling
- last mile delivery and its implications for freight/transportation optimisation.
The Centre also currently hosts the editorial office of the IMA Journal of Management Mathematics, published by Oxford University Press (OUP).
The mission of this quarterly journal is to publish mathematical or, more broadly, quantitative research of the highest quality, impact and relevance that can be directly utilised or have demonstrable potential to be employed by managers in profit, not-for-profit, third party and governmental/public organisations to improve their practices.
The PARC Institute is run in close collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Systems at Cardiff (CAMSAC).
