Exploiting the power of neuroscience

A major challenge is to translate genomic findings into disease relevant biology.

To meet this challenge, we work collaboratively with the Hodge Centre for Translational Neuroscience, the Waterloo Foundation, and other parts of the university’s neuroscience ecosystem in Medicine, Psychology, Biosciences, and Optometry.

We use multidisciplinary neuroscience approaches including human stem cell-based methods, brain imaging, neuropsychology, and neuroimmunology to understand the impact of risk factors on brain function, to develop biomarkers for early intervention, and to reveal pathogenic mechanisms that can guide the development of therapies.
