HCT200 - Neurorehabilitation: A Theoretical Basis

The aim of this module is to enable you to consider the theoretical basis to neuro- rehabilitation of adults or children, based on current theories of neuroscience and understanding of neuropathology.

Both social and medical models of disability will be explored. Evidence of current management strategies for rehabilitation of the adult or child, with neurological dysfunction, will be investigated and critically appraised at an advanced level. This will include an appreciation of National Service Frameworks and available clinical guidelines and their implementation in clinical practice.

This module provides you with evidence to support the 'Clinical practice' pillar related to Modernising Allied Health Professions’ Careers in Wales - A post registration framework’ (NHS Wales, 2016).

This module is available to physiotherapists and occupational therapists with an interest in neuro-rehabilitation.
