The Imaging Suite is fully equipped for use by both postgraduate and undergraduate students to develop skills in image interpretation and reporting, patient positioning and image appreciation.
Simulation of radiographic positioning provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain confidence before their clinical placements.
The suite also has a controlled area environment which is used for 3rd year research projects on image quality and radiation dose assessment.
Equipment in the suite includes:
- a functioning X-ray tube and table including an upright bucky
- a Computed Radiography system linked to the in-house Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) for imaging of phantoms
- ultrasound machines.
High definition reporting monitors are used to assess images captured with the equipment, which allows manipulation of image quality factors.
