Since our inception, we have contributed to a broad range of research projects.

We have addressed review topics as diverse as palliative care, orthopaedic surgery, oral health in care homes, child protection, increasing physical activity, and cardiac monitors.

We work closely with Cedar in its role as a healthcare technology research centre.

Wales Cancer Research Centre - Palliative Care Evidence Review Service (PaCERS)

We work with the Wales Cancer Research Centre coordinating the palliative care evidence review service team.

What Works Centre for Children’s Social Care

Working in partnership with CASCADE, DECIPHer, the Centre for Trials Research and CORE INFO teams at Cardiff University make a substantial positive difference to practice and outcomes for children and their families by improving the quality and use of evidence.


In collaboration with Dr Rhiannon Evans we are working on a new project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), which is examining how the wellbeing of children in the care system could be improved.

Current systematic reviews in progress

Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Centre

Systematic reviews for the Research Centre include:

  • Advance care planning training for Care Home employed health care professionals
  • Evaluating the contribution of qualitative Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis to cancer including cancer related end of life research with patient and carers
  • A systematic review of the economic costs of GI consequences of treatment for cancer patients and healthcare providers
