CCI China Trip 2017 is a great success

Students in China
Cardiff University students on campus at Xiamen University.

From 14th – 28th June, students who have been learning Chinese through the Cardiff Confucius Institute (through either Languages for All or Choices programmes) took part in a two-week summer camp in China.

The summer camp started with three days in Beijing, where students had chance to visit sites such as the Great Wall, the Olympic Park, the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City… to name but a few!

After Beijing, the group moved on to Xiamen in south-east China where further excursions included visiting the ancient Nanputuo Temple and Gulangyu Island. The rest of the time was spent on the campus of Xiamen University where students took Chinese language lessons and workshops in Chinese culture – including Chinese food, Beijing Opera, martial arts, acupuncture and paper cutting.

To round off the trip, all students took the HSK 1 examination and each and every one of them passed with flying colours. Well done to the CCI Summer Camp of 2017!

Here’s what some of the students thought of the trip:

“I absolutely loved the trip and it was so amazing to see China in a way I would never have if I just came with my family – having the Chinese tour guides to tell you the historical and cultural facts and being able to spend time on a Chinese university campus and be part of it and see how it runs”

“I’d highly recommend the Xiamen University / Hanban summer camp to anyone, I feel very lucky to have to have experienced so much!! Thank you!!”
