Our undergraduate music course has risen to 9th place in the latest Times Good University Guide published last week.

Subject rankings in the Guide are determined based on a combination of factors, such as teaching quality, student experience, research quality, and graduate prospects.

Our rise from last year’s ranking (13th) is matched by our recent rise in the Guardian’s annual university guide. It also follows our recent excellent score in the 2016 National Student Survey (NSS). This found that 96% of our final-year undergraduate students were satisfied with their overall experience at the School of Music, placing us 2nd in a ranking of Russell Group music departments and in the top 10 of all UK music departments for student satisfaction.

Professor Kenneth Hamilton, Head of the School of Music, said: “I’m pleased to see our course recognised in these rankings as being among the very best on offer in the UK. The improvement in all rankings, as well as in our National Student Survey scores, is testament to our commitment to providing an excellent student experience.”

The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide is published annually. It can be found online (please note the site is behind a paywall).
