Liz McKenzie
Liz brings her experience of leadership in manufacturing, insurance and as an angel investor, with a strong focus on customer excellence, operational best practice, transformation and people strategy.
Graduating as a Production Engineer at Loughborough University, Liz spent 19 years at Toyota, the home of lean manufacturing, in roles all around the business, including production control, logistics, cost management, productivity and supply chain management.
Liz then transferred to Financial Services, spending 7 years at Wesleyan Assurance Society, a nationwide mutual life insurer, based in Birmingham, becoming Chief Operating Officer and main Board member, responsible for Financial Advice, Insurance and Transformation/IT.
Since starting a Non-Executive career, Liz has focused on organisations delivering societal value. She has had Non-Executive Director (NED) roles at Monmouthshire Building Society, West Midlands Growth Company, the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and the Heart of England Community Foundation.
Now, as Shareholder NED at Brunel Pension Partnership, Liz is the conduit between the Board and the Local Authorities that Brunel serves.
Liz is also Chair of start-up, Tended, a geospatial tech business innovating in safety on our railways.
Liz moved from the Midlands to South Wales in 2021.
