Dr Ana Oliveira
Ana Oliveira is an academic leader and strategist with over 20 years of experience across higher education, corporate governance, and organisational transformation.
Most recently serving as Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Richmond, The American University in London, Ana led the university through a major period of academic and financial recovery, navigating the complexities of regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and institutional strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before this, she held senior academic roles where she was instrumental in curriculum reform and student success initiatives.
Ana began her career in strategic consultancy as an associate at McKinsey & Company, followed by leading roles in retail banking in New York and London, before transitioning into higher education. She combines her academic expertise with strong financial acumen and a deep commitment to widening participation and inclusion.
Alongside her professional roles, Ana served as Chief Operating Officer at Professors Without Borders, supporting global access to quality education, where she still volunteers. She is also a volunteer mathematics tutor for underprivileged students.
Ana holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Computing from Imperial College London, an MSc from the University of Oxford, and a BSc from the University of Porto.
