Fitness to practise

Fitness to practise means having the skills, knowledge and character to carry out your profession safely and effectively.

One of the responsibilities of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as statutory regulators is to ensure that their members are fit to practise.

You need to be aware of exactly what fitness to practise means before you enrol on any of the programmes (so you are ready to practise safely and effectively when you are qualified).

To learn more about fitness to practise, please visit the relevant pages on the HCPC and NMC websites.
