Accommodation options to suit everyone
We have a range of student halls and houses to suit individual preferences and budgets.
This includes accommodation for:
- those seeking a quieter living environment
- alcohol-free living
- Welsh speakers and learners
- couples and families.
University halls and houses provide a lively and busy environment, especially where large numbers of students are living together. However, we do offer accommodation options for those undergraduates and postgraduates who'd prefer to live in a quieter setting.
When you apply, you can request a room in a shared flat/house with other students who have also expressed an interest in a quiet living environment.
If you're allocated a room in quiet living accommodation, we just ask that you keep the volume of televisions and audio equipment low and be especially considerate late at night and during exam periods. Unfortunately, we can't regulate the level of external or environmental noises.
Designated alcohol-free flats and student houses are available within some of our accommodation locations.
Living in this type of accommodation means no alcohol can be consumed or stored in your shared flat or house. This applies to all shared areas such as kitchens and corridors, as well as your own bedroom.
We also ask you to respect other students who have also chosen alcohol-free by not allowing visitors into your flat or house that are under the influence of alcohol.
We are a Stonewall Diversity Champion and are ranked 10th out of 100 employers in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2020. We are also recognised by Stonewall as a Top Trans Employer.
We hope students find all of our accommodation welcoming and offer support to help you settle in to life away from home. Our Residence Life team are dedicated to creating an inclusive community and bring students together through a range of activities. You can also access a selection of student support and wellbeing services and find societies and groups who are specifically aimed at supporting LGBT+ students.
We aim to continually improve our services and have been working with LGBT+ students on ideas to enhance their university experience.
Following student feedback, some flats at Talybont North and Talybont South have been reserved for LGBT+ students. This accommodation is offered as an option for students who would prefer to live with, or feel most supported living with, other LGBT+ students and/or allies.
If you identify as LGBT+ and would like to apply for this accommodation, please select this option on your online application.

Couples and families
There is a limited amount and as a result, we are unfortunately unable to guarantee this type of accommodation and priority is given to students coming from overseas for their first year of study.
All students living in accommodation for couples or families will need to find alternative accommodation after the first year as the residential period cannot be extended.
We also provide Wi-Fi for partners, spouses and family members. However, only registered students can use the network connection point.
Our handy comparison guide lets you filter accommodation by a variety of options, including catering and bathrooms.
